Here are the facts:
1. We have our fourth for the quad, Bob Duff, a Columbia grad and multiple-US national team member at the U23 and Senior levels. Bob joined us two weeks ago, glad to have him on board.
2. Matt Carey and Mary Higgins are... ENGAGED! Congratulations, dear friends.
3. Yesterday we won Elite Nationals in the Light Men's Quad, racing Ottawa from Canada.
4. Tomorrow we race the Independence Day Regatta in Philly in the Light Men's Quad, racing New York Athletic Club, Vesper Boat Club, and the Ottawa crew we raced yesterday.
Enough chit-chat. On to the good stuff:
Keeping it tasteful on Boathouse Row.
And keeping it tasty at Bob's Diner.
On our rare morning practice off, I like to go to Volo Coffeehouse and get a few pastries, a coffee, and wake up like a Parisien, peoplewatching to my heart's content. Pure Pleasure. Just look at that icing.
Where we row, Conshohocken, PA
My veggie noodle stir fry. One of a thousand.
Limited Edition Anthony Fahden Rookie Card... hell yes.
Lowlights: Once lived for a full year in a nest made of his own clothing.
What's this? A picture of us rowing? Unthinkable, I know. Sam, Me, Bob and Shane winning Nationals.
Morning Nationals, PM LIFT. Avid Followers of Rocket Fuel will remember our training plan, including oursecret weapon - lifting DURING a regatta. That, apparently, was no joke. This and the following video was from yesterday evening after the racing was over, 3x70 reps T.R. machine @160lbs. It was 95 degrees in the boat bay.
Reunited with an old friend, Chris Wyant, head coach at SoNo Rowing and Crossfit.
Sunset on the Kelly Drive Bike Path. This picture does no justice to the real thing. I love Philly. Happy 4th of July weekend, everyone.
