| Driving by Mt Shasta, CA. Left to right, Jon's Fluid, a double, my Fluid |
Jon Greer and I left Seattle Rowing Center, Southbound, Friday afternoon. Our first stop (after a morning workout in Seattle, 2x20 x 20 strokes on 7 off at race pace and faster) was with a friend of his, Phil, in Oregon. Thank you Phil for hosting us! We're living like Kings. After a day off from rowing took us from Salem OR to Sacramento CA, we stayed with the warm and generous parents of another of Jon's friends, a former Cal Berkeley rower. Salmon dinner with brown rice, salad, beets and cookies was ready for us as we walked in the door. Not only did Miriam (Jon's friend's mom) make us this delicious dinner - but breakfast as well before we rowed on Lake Natoma, about 15.5k steady, moving our bodies around. Another day of light driving took us to visit California Rowing Club (Center?), then go for a second row (8k) at Redwood Shores, which I recognized from videos like this one below:
We just got back from another home cooked meal, a little ice cream, some hot tub and a walk. We're tired but in the best way. It feels like the Tour De France.. but rowing... and in Cali not France. Two days until Chula Vista!
